Build Log · Milestone

A place to point people at

Until this week, if someone asked what I was building, the honest answer was a link to this Build Log and a request to read it bottom to top. Now there's a front door: inkmere.com is live.

The inkmere.com landing page: the Newsboard panel showing a newspaper front page, on a dark background, beside the words The news, set in ink.
The front door. Dark room, one lit page.

I built it the way the panel itself behaves: dark, quiet, no motion begging for attention. The photographs on it are the real milled unit, shot from every side, because the object is the argument. If the site oversold what the hardware is, the hardware would spend its life apologising for the website, and I'd rather it be the other way round.

The first run

The site also says the number out loud: the first production run will go through Kickstarter, with an early-bird price of $250. Small run, machined aluminium, built and tested by me. The campaign is days away as I write this; when it's live, the site and this log will both say so.
